New World Record For Largest Gospel Choir Set By MCGI

Another World Record is set in the Philippines this month, this time it was made by voices singing praises to God. Completely filling Smart Araneta Coliseum on Monday (October 12), members of Church of God International (MCGI) celebrated the 35th anniversary of Ang Dating Daan - the longest running religious program on radio and television, with an attempt for the largest Gospel Choir.

There was also the presence of Persons with Disabilities (PWD), on which the whole gathering was dedicated to, giving them the best seats in the house for them to enjoy the offering of songs of thanksgiving to God. In the said occasion, 10 groups of PWD were gifted P100K each and 30 individuals were also granted 10K each. All of them including their aides left with a bag of grocery items.

The ADD program has long been supporting different PWD groups through its outreach projects such as Free Medical Mission, Free Legal Counseling, and Social Care, among others.

The epic congregational singing has also set a Guinness World Record for the Largest Gospel Choir with an Assembly of 8,688 members of the church chorale groups in Metro Manila and Mega Manila or nearby provincial chapters on a one-hour of singing songs of praise. This has been certified by Guinness representative, Ms. Fortuna Burke Melhem,  who was flown in from London, United Kingdom as its official adjudicator, with Iloilo 5th district Representative Niel Tupas Jr., serving as the official witness of the event.

Alongside the largest choir ensemble ever assembled in a single venue, chorales from the different satellite centers in the whole Philippines and in other countries in South and Central Americas, and in Africa joined the historical event.

MCGI's Overall and Presiding Minister and ADD Program Main Anchor, Bro. Eli Soriano, delivered his inspirational message to the event, which was also witnessed in the MCGI satellite centers worldwide via live streaming.

Ang Dating Daan (The Old Path) air both on UNTVLife Channel 37 and over UNTV-Radio La Verdad 1350 khz. UNTVLife-37, UNTV-Radio La Verdad 1350 and Wish 107.5 served as the official media partners of the event.
