The effects of the volcanic eruption of Taal has indeed affected a lot of lives in the Batangas and Cavite provinces, particularly those within the range around the Taal Lake. Many families has been displaced and many properties has been destroyed by the volcanic earthquakes and ashfall on homes, livestock, and farms.
Shawarma Shack was one of those companies who made their own initiative in bringing aid to affected areas. Some of the areas they went was the town of Tanauan, Batangas wherein they brought in trucks of relief items to over 1000 families in different barangays and evacuation centers.
It can be credited to Shawarma Shack's founder Walther Buenavista's wife, Patricia Buenavista,to organize this outreach as she herself grew up in the town and has relatives residing in the area which was considered one of the danger zones by PHIVOLCS. When it had it phreatic explosion last January 12, 2020 and raised it to alert level 4.
Shawarma Shack also visited and gave aid to 170 families relocated to La Consolation College, 70 families at Daughters of Mary Immaculate School, 89 families at Tanauan Local Government Unit Evacuation Center, 120 families at Tapia Elementary School in Barangay Trapiche, 98 families at Jesus is Lord Christian School, 45 families at Tanauan City College, 250 families at Pamahalaang Sentral ng Hilagang Tanauan, 98 families at Ulango Elementary School, and 92 families at Pantay Bata Elementary School.
Tanauan City Vice Mayor Atty. Herminigildo "Jun-jun" G. Trinidad also joined in assisting the Buenavista family along with other Shawarma Shack volunteers during this relief operation. With the aid given, many are thankful to Shawarma Shack for providing the aid they need in this time of calamity.
As the alert level has been lowered and people are able to go back to their homes, they also brought back good memories of how they are remembered and helped by companies such as Shawara Shack that not only cares about their business but also reaches out in these trying times.
