As a consumer it is always a must to be well informed about the the retail market today to know the trends , optimize purchasing power and improve businesses. This year the Philippine Retailers Association (PRA) brings the biggest to date retail conference and Expo in the country as it holds the 20th National Retail Conference and Stores Asia Expo (NRCE) this 2011 slated on August 11 to 12 at the SMX Convention Center. This brings together the biggest retailers and suppliers in the industry
Included in the key people for this year are Ma. Elena “Ballsy” Aquino-Cruz, Asian brand guru Joseph Baladi, Ayala Land Inc. President and Management Man of the Year 2009 Antonino Aquino and founder of the successful food franchise from Iloilo Mang Inasal, Edgar Sia II.
This year's theme is “The New Frontier: Taking Retail to the Next Level" supported by the country’s leading companies including PLDT Alpha Enterprise, SM, Hewlett-Packard, Festival Supermall, Robinsons Malls; Banco de Oro, TCC, RedPrairie, Vinculum Communications, Inc.; Ayala Malls, Eastwood Mall, Araneta Center and Chronos; L Timestudio; So! F.A.B., Forme, Wilcon Depot, Bench and Coca-Cola.
I'm looking forward to see what is Mang Inasal's secret with its exponential growth in just a few years. A thing we can also apply to other retailers. Since I also plan to have a business in the future it would be helpful to know these things. Also interested to hear from Balsy Aquino-Cruz as a retailer aside from being the presidential sister. Being known as woman of integrity and morals, a perfect example for all in the industry.

As a consumer myself, I wanted to see innovations and solutions the industry like providing improved support services, utilizing the power of social media and the internet, and technological breakthroughs that can really bring retail into the next level. As competition grows within the country and also in the region.
