Hellboy - New Story Blazes With Reboot

Hellboy was an interesting superhero character which had its own film back in 2004. From there he has become the unconventional hero who despite of his looks and origin, would still choose to be good and save the world.

With the announcement of a reboot film came with some concerns if it was necessary and if would be effective. However, since it has been more than a decade since the last film, the clamor to have a new one rose and supporters grew with the idea. Now playing the hell-born demon is David Harbour from Stranger Things which also deals with the paranormal entities affecting the town. But Hellboy is far more complicated and more sinister which makes it a big deal.

This retelling of the story of Hellboy allows to make changes with the characters based on the comics where it originated. With ths version, it becomes more R-rated with gore and violence as integral part of the story. It was kinda shocking compared to the original which makes it own charm to the viewers.

Hellboy stars David Harbour, Milla Jovovich, Ian McShane, Sasha Lane, Daniel Dae Kim, and Thomas Haden Church. Directed byNeil Marshall,  distributed by Viva Films and MVP Pictures and now showing in cinemas.

Technical Effects: 4 out of 5 stars (Heavily laden with CGI and gore, but surprisingly I liked the gore here.)

Plot: 5 out of 5 stars (I thought it might follow a similar plot but indeed overhauled it for relevance and proper character exposure.)  

Acting and Actors: 4 out of 5 stars (David Harbour proved to be his own Hellboy, and a funny one too.)

Pros:  Gore, Hellboy's humor, fight scenes, character development
Cons:  Plot holes, conspiracy connections

Music and Soundtracks:  4 out for 5 stars (Music by Benjamin Mark Lasker Wallfisch who also worked with a recent film Shazam!)

Overall: Rating 4.0 out of 5 stars (It proved me wrong that it might be too early for a reboot, it showed flexibility with the story and how it can spin into more films for this franchise.)
