"Kwaresma" Unfolds This Easter Season With Sharon Cuneta and John Arcilla

This May, Reality Entertainment will be presenting a new horror-thriller KUWARESMA which is made in partnership with Globe Studios and Cignal Entertainment. Starring Sharon Cuneta, and John Arcilla, the film is set to bring chills and scares next month. Building the narrative story written by Katski Flores and Erik Matti, the former leads in direction and has not made a horror film since Seklusyon.

It is also a first time for Sharon to be paired with John Arcilla for a film and the trailers show their dark and twisted characters in a very odd family situation. Despite both having hectic schedules, they were able to find time to shoot for the film. It took them a month shooting in Baguio City as production requires a lot of preparations, make up, and props to make the scenes more immersive and thrilling.

"Si John, very reliable na artista kahit saan mo tapon na role. Wala kaming maisip na iba na kakayanin ang role kundi si John dahil bida-kontrabida ang role. Wala na kasi tayong Vic Silayan, Dindo Fermando. Si John, kayang-kaya niya ang bida-kontrabida character. For the first time, napagsama sila ni Sharon. Two really big actors!" Matti added.

Also joining the cast are real life siblings Pam and Kent Gonzales. They both play the role of  twins for the movie which looks cute but they are subjected to a lot of gore and prosthetic in making the film.  Erik Matti is very impressed with the siblings especially Kent whom he said was a big revelation in Kuwaresma. "Nag-audition siya (Kent). Sobrang 'raw' pero nakikita mong yung utak niya kung paano gumalaw. Unang eksena with Sharon, iyakan, pasok agad siya. Hindi siya natakot kay Sharon," Erik proudly said of the 17-year-old young actor.

Pam, prior to landing the role, has dabbled in modeling and beauty contests aside from exposures in various TV series. She plays Sharon and John's daughter in the movie, who died mysteriously.

As Sharon also celebrates her 40th year in showbiz, Kuwaresma is something she offers for her fans, followers, and supporters. She shares that she's a big fan of horror movies and was very excited when she became part of the cast. "Creatively, this is one of the most rewarding, satisfying collaborations I have had. He's a director who knows what he wants, whose passion and integrity for a film will inspire your own well of creativity to keep flowing, who will not allowing and protecting your own," Sharon said of Matti.

John Arcilla has also a lot of good things to say about Matti. "Film enthusiasts, the intellectuals and people from all walks of life can surely relate to this family drama/horror film directed by master storyteller Erik Matti," Arcilla said.

Head of Globe Studios Quark Henares says, "I'm very excited to be part of Kuwaresma as this is our first venture into horror, and I'm a major horror fan. I'm also a big Erik Matti fan, and am looking forward to this first of many productions we'll be doing with him and Reality Entertainment." Henares also appeals to the public to support local cinema by going to movie theaters. "Watching films in theaters is a national pastime, and that sense of community and family that movies bring is invaluable. Horror is especially fun to watch in groups, so please make sure you watch Kuwaresma with friends and family at the movies!"

Catch this thrilling film with a superb cast in theaters starting May 15, 2019 and join in the conversation and check out news via their social media accounts @kuwaresmamovie and @realityentertainment.
