Avida breaks ground in North Point

Avida Village North Point is surely an ideal place to build a dream home. Soon, this dream will take shape as Avida Land officially held its second groundbreaking ceremony in this 18-hectare development last March 17, 2012, signalling the start of the second phase of the site development.  

Located inside North Point, the only fully integrated master planned community in Negros, the project is set to be a place for a lifetime of beautiful memories for its future residents. After the project’s official launch and groundbreaking for the first phase of houses last year, Avida once again broke grounds on site, this time to commence the construction of the amenity area starting with the clubhouse.  

 “We are truly excited to finally start construction of the clubhouse, because it is something that has always been a vital part of a community as it serves a venue for gatherings and celebrations, be it with friends, relatives or neighbours,” said Pol Tanco, Avida’s Project Strategic Management Group Head of Avida Land for VisMin. With this amenity, residents will get to enjoy the same quality of living experience that homeowners already living in Avida communities across the country are enjoying. “And since Avida Village North Point is a low density community, which assures that there will always be time and room for every resident to enjoy these amenities year round,” he added.

The clubhouse is scheduled for completion by November 2012, while the basketball court will be ready by the second quarter of the year.

MUSIC LYF: Rock legend Pepe Smith, Letter Day Story collaborate on “Salamat"

Pinoy Rock Anthem “Salamat”, one of the most unforgettable hits of legendary OPM band The Dawn, gets a charged-up tribute with its latest revival by the up-and-coming rock idols of Letter Day Story, which also features Pinoy rock icon Pepe Smith. The official music video is now on YouTube.

Letter Day Story members were naturally excited over the prospect of working with Smith for the recording of “Salamat”.  All of them, Dex Yu (guitars and lead vocals), NotNot Vinzons (guitars), Oli Agustin (bass and vocals) and Ej Arabit (drums), said they felt honored and thrilled.

“Siyempre, Pepe Smith na yan eh. Kung wala siya at ang ibang members ng Juan dela Cruz Band, wala sigurong Pinoy Rock ngayon. Wala rin kami,” said Dex.

Their version of “Salamat” retains the very relevant and very Pinoy message of the original but also creates a more contemporary sound that brings the OPM classic to a new generation of fans. The music video was shot in select areas in NUVALI, a sustainable and environment-friendly development by Ayala Land in Sta. Rosa, Laguna. 

Duavit Clarifies Philippine Star article

GMA Network President and Chief Operating Officer Gilberto R. Duavit, Jr. clarified certain points raised in a news article by Mary Ann Ll. Reyes published in the Philippine Star last April 14 headlined “MVP offers up to P45 B for GMA Network.”

Duavit said that it is not true that two out of the three major stockholders of GMA “are already amenable to selling their respective 33-percent stake.”

He added that the major and controlling shareholders have not yet received a price that is acceptable to them. “We are presently not in serious negotiations with the PLDT group as we have not yet received an offer price that is acceptable to us. The Network is not for sale but that is not to say it may not be sold, depending on the offer price,” Duavit reiterated.

REEL DEAL: Prometheus 3D SPOTLIGHT

“PROMETHEUS 3D” – Creating Shaw and Meeting Her Maker

There has been a lot of speculation that “Prometheus” is a prequel to Scott’s highly acclaimed earlier film, Alien. The director wants to keep the story under wraps so that audiences view the film without preconceived ideas.

But he has admitted that there are links.  In “Prometheus,” the mission is funded by Peter Wayland (Guy Pearce), the ageing head of a huge corporation.  The action takes place 30 years before the story told in Alien.

 

Leading the Prometheus expedition is the character of Elizabeth Shaw, played by Noomi Rapace. From director Ridley Scott, who delivered the likes of “Thelma & Louise” and “Alien,” we can immediately expect a strong character to inhabit Shaw's spacesuit. And at the hands of Rapace, best known for her work in the tremendously-popular Swedish Millenium series, she comes alive as a new action heroine for the 21st Century.
