Blah Blah Blogs Ber Edition: Undas 2011

WARNING THIS IS MY 666th POST AND RATED PG
(Patnubay at Gabay ng Magulang ang Kailangan sa mga batang manonood)

Another year passes and another undas has come again to remind us that we are not immortal, we die and turn into bones and dust.  This year was also sad with the passing of my grandmother (we call her Lola Haneng, her real name is Juana). And now the family lot just got new boarders. When I went there last Halloween, just because  to avoid the crowd, I saw in the gravestone that my grandfather is also buried there too. He died way back in 1974, so long before I was born but he is buried in Batangas, and we never had the chance to visit him during this season. It's really heartwarming despite the fact that they both already died yet they are together in eternity.

Also I watched the movie IN TIME (now showing in theaters) which showed people can live forever with time as  currency and power. People does not age past 25 years but every second is paid. If this would be our society, powerful and rich men can live forever. This year was also the year of the fall of controversial figures like Osama Bin Laden and Mommar Gadaffi. They had the resources to live lavishly yet are in hiding and at war. Unfortunately, got caught and shot dead.

Death is realistic yet mystical, an oxymoron and still fascinates people all over the world. Its also serves as the balance as the world grows. Now were have 7 billion people in the world and counting. Death is always feared by anyone to happen because we are afraid to lose everything and/or we are not ready yet.

I also fear it, yet I have made plans if ever that day comes. I have enrolled my self in a life plan (though I need to catch up on the payment), and prefer cremation (because it is cheaper). Another interesting pre-death activity would be signing up for Organ donation, better to give your healthy organs to people who would need them since you're dead anyway. One can also give one's corpse for Science and Medicine, to be studied by medical students, thus there was Gray's Anatomy which is named after a dead man for the sake of the study of the human body.

During the season, aside from visiting and remembering our departed loved ones, we can also look forward and plan on our "final destination" than to be caught off guard. Better make your playlist now than settle for the infinite loop of "Hindi kita Malilimutan"

Happy Death planning!
