MUSIC LYF: UPCC concerts on March 3 & March 31 begin 50th anniversary


UPCC members and alumni strike a signature group pose at the February 17 general assembly at the UP Bahay ng Alumni in UP Diliman, Quezon City. Two concerts this March herald the celebration and kick off the 20th International Tour of the University of the Philippines Concert Chorus. 

The University of the Philippines Concert Chorus (UPCC) celebrates its 50th anniversary titled “SingKwenta SingKwela” this year with a series of a year and a half activities highlighted by a six-month international tour this March to key cities in the United States and Europe. UPCC alumna Nanette Inventor is special guest.

Two March concerts begin the milestone:

March 3 at 7 p.m. at the University Theatre, UP Diliman. The show also features UPCC alumna Nanette Inventor and culminates the Diliman Arts Month celebration spearheaded by the UP Diliman Office for Initiatives in Culture and Arts (OICA). Friends of Korus Foundation Inc. is co-presentor. Tickets are at P150 while tickets for the UP community is at P50.
March 31 is the pamamaalam concert at 7:30 p.m. at the Philamlife Theatre with participation of UPCC Batch 92. Tickets at P300 while tickets for students and senior citizens are at P200.

THE UNIVERSITY OF THE PHILIPPINES CONCERT CHORUS (UPCC) is the official State University choir. Initially called the UP Mixed Chorus, the multi-awarded UPCC or “Korus” was named as one of the world’s ten best university choirs.  Best of its signature contributions to the Philippine choral scene is pioneering and popularizing choreographed choral performances, introducing it at its national and international concert tours. Today an entity of national stature and a choir of international recognition, it has been named to the Aliw Awards Hall of Fame and continues to blaze trails in its choral performances that continue to receive rave reviews from global audiences.
