Blah Blah Blogs BER edition: PLANK YOU!

First of all...

MERRY CHRISTMAS! if you are in the Philippines where Christmas starts on when the month sounds "ber" at the end. Yes, its the season everyone is waiting for, the time has come for us to get ready to immigrate to a distant land just to hide from our inaanaks (godchildren) and stock on gifts and other treats.

DALAWANG PISO: Pinoy Two Cents

I just revived my oldest blog fpjjr.blogspot.com to give way to a Filipino blog section and also to revive the former glory of the blog that started it all. DALAWANG PISO, is my Pinoy two cents on every topic that can be discussed with. Basically to address different issues but also to be the new Blah Blah Blogs which was originally written in Filipino. Now that BBB is in a new level for international readers, I made use of the original blog to make it useful and also mark the start of another new chapter in this Manual to Lyf.

Blah Blah Blog RAINY DAYS: GRINGO HONASAN in the House!

Today, I have only encountered two senators that I had time to chat and dine at the same time. First was the late Raul Roco at his Farm in Antipolo after the campaign in 2004. Now I came across another political legend and probably one of the most controversial, Senator Gingo Honasan. Known to be a fierce and brave soldier who was a key person behind the 1986 People power revolution, and also had infamous moments when he joined the coup 'd etat in the next 5 years. He has now grew into the most respectable senators of land. Now as we were in his presence, its time to get to know more about the man himself and what wisdom and skills he can share to us.

Blah Blah Blog RAINY DAYS: May DTI Permit Ba Yan?

This blog has been not tested on animals, does not contain pesticides and other allergic properties (well sometimes), non carcinogenic and hypoallergenic for babies 2 and above, and is now applying a barangay permit from  Spratyls Islands. For DTI Permit no XXXX series of 2011, Mabuhay ang Pilipinas Patungo sa Tuwid na Daan! (insert PNoy profile)

Blah Blah Blog RAINY DAYS: To Zoo or Not To Zoo?

TO ZOO OR NOT TO ZOO... That is the question.

Another trendsetter this week was the Infamous condition of the Manila Zoo posted in a post by Propinoy.net. The post showed the very poor condition of the animals with their nutrition and also their health and also untreated wounds. It is really a sad to see the animals at this conditions, especially it was my first zoo experience in my life. And I have been to several other zoos like Avilon and Malabon which takes good care of the animals. Though I prefer seeing animals in the wild but zoos can be a source of a sanctuary for animals that needs special care and not primarily for entertainment.

LAKBAYAN: Rizal Heritage Trail

Rizal is now 150 years old if he is still alive, however even he is executed at at young age, he had made the made  a mark in Philippine history by waking up the minds and heart of  Filipinos which lead to the revolution and the independence of the Philippines. And as he is also a backpacker himself going to many places in the Philippines, well not on his free will at some time, has marked the nation with his heritage and wisdom that we the children of the present has the responsibility to preserve it.

Blah Blah Blogs: 150 facts about Rizal

150 facts about Jose P. Rizal
(Part 1)

  1. Rizal means green fields thus the color green used in his markers and even his house in Calamba.
  2. Jose Rizal tomb marker was spelled R.P.J. by his sister to make sure his grave is kept secret to the Spaniards.
  3. The Hidelburg fountain, the fountain where Jose Rizal drank while in Germany writing the Noli me Tangere and El Filibutelero is now found in Luneta which is given as a gift by Germany. Revived by NPDC this year for his birth anniversary.

Blah Blah Blogs: FREEDOM!

First of all...

As we celebrate the 113th year of our independence, it also marks a lot of firsts and rebirths. First, this is the first Independence day of PNoy but the holiday falls on a weekend that many wished it was the past administration. Second, this is also the first time I went to Pampanga to witness a clean up drive to promote a river cruise in the near future. Next, it is also Pentecost in the Catholic Church which marks the start of the mission of the apostles with gifts given by the Holy Spirit. Then it is also a rebirth of the Hiedelburg fountain in Rizal Park where the hero used to drink back in Germany. The week also starts the school year to other schools and also some colleges and universities. The country has gone through a lot and 113 years is no joke as it was also mixed with tears, sighs, blood and sweat of Filipinos who fought for this freedom. Lucky for us, we never got into Forced Labor, Spanish prosecution and Martial Law. But we also have our problem that we also need to face at these times. So independence will also depend on its people on how to keep it.

Freedom is what we celebrate today and its our duty to take care of it.

Blah Blah Blogs: Happy End of the World Day!

HAPPY END OF THE WORLD DAY!

I know you have also waited until it struck 6 am in the US. You might have tweeted or messaged your family and friends that you love them and sorry for all of your sins. Some would have gone to church and prayed so hard that their knees bleed.  Some would party like 2012 and also made their final dreams come true. But technically, most of us didn't. Since also technically, we can not solidly predict the future and determine our demise.  Though if we did, we have probably did all the things above and do something, either to wait what to happen or how to delay it. But its freaky but cool to realize that at those time of confusion and chaos (if ever), we would do the things that we should have done today. Why do we need to wait for the apocalypse to arrive just to end wars and say 'I LOVE YOU'?  There is also so many things left unfinished if the world ends now... when will the Philippines get a Gold at the Olympics? Who killed Ninoy Aquino? Will the corrupt officials be punished? What outfit will Lady GaGa wear next? Well, if ever that we are still able to live tomorrow the next END OF THE WORLD day would be December 21, 2012, so mark your calendars and party like its the end of the world!

So to all you readers, my family and friends.
XOXO.

Blah Blah Blogs: Why Blogger, Why... and other Internet Juice

Why BLOGGER, why?

A question that linger to me last week as we (bloggers using blogspot) experienced the outage that happened to blogger.com. It was a headache for me to think that I have a lot of post to do here. I admit that I don't have a connection at home so that is why I have to go to the wifi hotspots to do my uploads and posts. But unfortunately Monday last week I was greeted by a spinning wheel inside the post area. This phenomenon caused a lot of frustration to the users of this platform. I ried several remedies like switching from draft.blogger to the regular version, even html won't work.

This made me think if I need to have a domain or change to wordpress. And I am also worried that there would be the possible future to blogger closing down (thinking of it gives me the shivers). But the outage is now gone and hopefully there won't be any additional problems especially since they will be migrating to the new blogger interface, which I have tried when I was using draft.blogger.com.

I know changes are innevitable, however I hope Blogger/Google would apply changes or upgrades without much hassle like this one.
By the way, we (the Philippines) are now known to be the social networking capital of the world. And this does testify the power of the internet to the Filipinos  and even there is still poverty, people are getting more access to it every day. One proof is the the exponential rise in computer and internet users in the country. And its not far, that it could reach every island of the country.  More reasons to blog and more reasons for you to read Blah Blah Blogs!

Blah Blah Blogs: Blessed Pope John Paul II, the patron saint of Bloggers

Aside from the Royal Wedding of the Century of Prince Charles and Kate Middleton, another worldwide event that caught the eye of the world was the Beatification of the late Pope John Paul II, which is the most loved pope of all time because of his influence especially to the youth. I myself has been inspired by his life and works that also contributed to what I am today, he affirmed my Catholic faith and also inspired me to be God's servant. And as he is elevated to the title of being Blessed, I would like to say that as a blogger I would consider him as the patron saint of bloggers or Blessed patron of bloggers, technically everywhere. I think its time for him to have that title as he himself was the pope at the age of the Internet and other technologies. His influence rippled into the world with it, he was also the first pope to send an e-mail and launch audio CDs. There were also saint who were given a patron title for new innovations like St. Claire of Assisi as the patroness of television. Pope John Paul II (also known as Karol Józef Wojtya), also started the World Youth Day which is attended by millions of Youth all over the world. And this year, it will be held in Madrid Spain, and of course I would like to go there since I have not directly participated in the world youth day 1995 where I was only in grade school back then. Truly beloved by Catholics and other faiths worldwide, he made connections with Muslims, Jews and other Religions that also paved for peaceful reconciliations. I do hope that his canonization will come in the next few years as many are now testifying by his intercession. And even just with his charisma has already won the hearts of many.

As he is now part of Blessed Circle, she joins the rank of Mother Theresa of Calcutta and our own Pedro Calungsod, who were Beatified just years ago. And the process of Sainthood is never easy as it goes through rigorous investigation and confirmation. He is very lucky to be beatified in the span of less than 5-10 years which most would take decades or even centuries. And like what I said that he is the patron saint of bloggers, may his intercession bring more inspiration and hope for us who also speak out and evangelize using the new media.

BLAH BLAH BLOGS: Summer Specials!

Yes! its officially summer, as declared by PAG-ASA and we open up summer with another edition of Blah Blah Blogs 2011 Summer Specials! And as things are getting warmer with the weather, the happenings in the country are also getting hotter. One of which is today is also Komikon Summer bayanihan  at Pasig. The premiere pinoy comics convention is moving to the Bayanihan center from UP Bahay ng Alumni.I would also sell my comics there, unfornately, my new release would be delayed due to  financial constraints. However, better enjoy the moment!

There is also the Blogger fest happening at Thunderbird Resort in Rizal, over 200 bloggers will be there, of course minus myself and as of this writing some cannot sleep because of excitement. Some would also go to the Firefox 4 launch in Makati. And to cap the day, The Script will perform for just one night. I wanna go there!

Now aside from the merry events I would also talk about hot issues. One of which is the "Jan-jan" scandal wherein a little boy unexpectedly showed his talent which was originally to dance but turns out to be a 'macho dancer' but the controversy comes because he was crying while performing the dance. He would dance whenever the music is played thus repeating the same action over and over again. This sparked controversy with celebrities and the MTRCB which also lead to what is seems to be a deja vu of his past controversies when he was with ABS CBN. TV5 recently  stated that the show will be on hiatus to be filled with replays of the show while the case is still discussed.Well one thing is for sure, we hate child abuse our statuses but child abuse is mostly happens inside of homes yet there is no concrete action to fight this aside from Bantay Bata.

Also another child hot topic is with the CBCP. Aside from the highly publicized RH bill, it seems like a strict parent when in come to media and advertising.  They  halted the BFGF commercial of Mcdonalds due to the concept of having a girlfriend and they said it seems to be cheap as the french fries . I'm not a parent yet, but to think your kids are already thinking of going into a relationship is hard to tell if this would be puppy love or another. Proper parental guidance is always the key here. Probably if we would remove the world 'girlfriend', it would be different.

Next week is holy week, time to reflect and spend most of our day in prayer. While some maybe hitting the beaches (pronounce it right please), majority would be in their own pilgrimages, pabasa sessions, or even bisita iglesia. I might come with another 'panata' project so there would be the element of reflection and blogging during those days.

And as Easter arrives, we would now be another start, hopefully I will be able to get my pay and buy a gadget I really wanted to have for my birthday! I'll be also posting my wishlist and if you can provide these things for me, I will give you my warmest thank you hug! I enjoyed blogging again this way, more free to express my feelings and also not filtered by any editor, even the CBCP.  I don;t have any grudges against anyone, but better to face another day with a smile and never ending blogging!
